Jessie L. Weemer, age 84 May 21, 1936– March 19, 2021 Jessie L. Weemer, age 84, of Springfield, Illinois, and formerly of Greenup, Illinois, passed away at 10:40 PM – Friday, March 19, 2021, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, Illinois. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM –
Marilyn Marie Dougherty, 82, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, formerly of Olney, Illinois was called home to Jesus on March 21, 2021. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 27, 2021, at Scott Avenue Christian Church, 404 S. Scott Avenue, Newton, Illinois, with services to follow at 1 p.m. Burial
The Newton Eagles traveled to Macon Meridian where they faced the Hawks and soared to a shutout game with a final score of 10-0. A clean sheet by the defensive line was due to Luke Milliman, Alex Bergbower, Leo Weber, Luke Weber and keeper Drew Buerster’s defensive skills and teamwork.
