Newton Community High School Chorus showcased the depth of its talent during a recent concert that featured 36 performances spanning multiple genres and decades of music.
The evening opened with the NCHS Chorus performing “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart,” setting an upbeat tone before the program transitioned into a long lineup of student soloists and small-group performances. Throughout the night, students took center stage with selections ranging from classic ballads and Broadway favorites to modern pop and rock hits.
Highlights included Jasmine Luthy’s rendition of “Delta Dawn,” Emily Broscious’ emotional performance of “Easy On Me,” and Nora Street’s moving version of “My Immortal.” Drew Iffert followed with “A World of Your Own,” while Chase Coovert delivered “Outside.” Emily Broscious later returned to the stage alongside Beth Broscious for a duet performance of “Rollin’ in the Deep.”
The chorus regrouped for “Lovely” and later “Under Pressure,” providing strong ensemble moments that anchored the first half of the program. Additional solo highlights before intermission included Brittany Keller’s “Never Enough,” Jaidyn Sparling’s “Vienna,” and Reagan Tate’s performances in both “Creep,” alongside Olivia Weber, and “You’re So Vain.”
Following intermission, the NCHS Chorus opened the second half with “What About Us” before another round of featured soloists took the stage. Standout performances included Zoe Luthy’s “Silver Springs,” Alana Coker’s “I Won’t Say I’m In Love,” Cooper Sutter’s “Landslide,” and Cameron Newkirk’s energetic take on “California Love.” Sadie Iffert, Johnnie Brant, and Lucy Bierman also delivered strong individual performances as the program continued.
The concert concluded with several ensemble numbers, including “Dream On” and “Think,” bringing the evening full circle with powerful group performances that highlighted the collective strength of the chorus.
The NCHS Chorus extends thanks to Jamie Goss for stage decorations, Jeremy Wilson for sound, and Dawn Colwell and Emily Ross for their work as pit musicians.
Audience members were also invited to return to Newton Community High School March 26–29 for the upcoming production of Sister Act.
