Free Back-to-School Bash and Rummage Event Coming to Newton August 9
Families in Jasper County are invited to gear up for the new school year at the 2025 Back 2 School Bash and UPCYCLE event on Saturday, August 9, hosted at Scott Avenue Christian Church (SACC), 404 S. Scott Avenue in Newton.
UPCYCLE: 8:00 AM – 11:00 AM
The day begins with UPCYCLE, a free rummage sale open to the entire community from 8:00 to 11:00 a.m. UPCYCLE stands for “Using Possessions to Connect Your Community and Love Everyone,” and offers gently used items for those who need them—at absolutely no cost.
Back 2 School Bash: 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM
Running concurrently, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., the Back 2 School Bash will provide free essential services and supplies to help local students start the year strong. Offerings include:
- Haircuts & hair checks
- Shoe gift cards
- Socks & underwear
- Eagle spiritwear
- Scoliosis screenings
- DIY Laundry Day kits
The Back 2 School Bash is organized by JC First and will be held at the same location as UPCYCLE. Registration for these services opens Friday, July 25, and can be completed by scanning the QR code on the event flyer or visiting www.jcfirst.org/events/25b25b.
