Newton Battles Teutopolis to 2-2 Draw

The Newton Eagles boys’ soccer team fought to a hard-earned 2-2 tie against the Teutopolis Wooden Shoes on Thursday night, moving their season record to 13-2-1.

Luke Farley and Henry Will each found the back of the net for the Eagles, with Wade Ochs providing the setup on both goals. Newton’s offensive pressure kept the match tight, but it was the effort in goal that kept the Eagles in contention. Keeper Curtis Weber turned in a stellar performance, recording 10 saves to deny Teutopolis multiple scoring opportunities.

The draw keeps Newton’s strong season rolling as they prepare for tournament play at Mattoon High School’s 24th Annual Varsity Boys Soccer Tournament on October 3-4.
