HCE Week… October 13–18, 2025…is being celebrated state wide to promote HCE, uniting counties in creating public awareness and information about the organization, which was organized in 1924 in Illinois. The mission of HCE is to enhance the lives of individuals and families through quality educational programs and experiences, while encouraging responsible leadership and service to the community. Altogether HCE members across Illinois volunteered more than 398,520 hours of their time to service projects last year.
October is a busy month for Jasper County HCE! The annual Butter Braid/ Cookie Dough sale is September 29–October 27; delivery day is Monday, November 3, 4:00 pm, at the U. Of I Extension Office in Newton. Contact Judy Millsap (618-554-0917) to order.
Also, Books For Beginners will be celebrated this week in the five Kindergarten classes. HCE members will be gifting all of Jasper County’s kindergarteners and their teachers with their own copy of Snail Brings The Mail!
