Santa Train Rolling Into Newton on December 7

The holiday season is making a magical stop in Newton this year as the Indiana Rail Road’s iconic Santa Train returns for its 35th annual tour. The beloved tradition, which has been delighting families across the Midwest for more than three decades, will pull into Newton High School/West Decatur Street on Sunday, December 7, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.

This yearly celebration invites families to climb aboard a beautifully decorated, vintage passenger car to visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Children can share their Christmas wishes, meet festive holiday characters, and even drop a letter to Santa to help him remember exactly what they’re hoping for under the tree.

The Santa Train is known for bringing communities together, creating cherished Yuletide memories that span generations. Many families throughout Indiana Rail Road’s service area have made this event a holiday tradition — and Newton residents will once again have the chance to experience the excitement up close.

In the spirit of giving, the Indiana Rail Road will also be accepting warm coats, hats, and gloves to distribute to local children in need this holiday season. Community members are encouraged to bring donations and spread warmth beyond the magic of the moment.

Admission is free, and all are welcome to attend. With its mix of nostalgia, holiday joy, and small-town community spirit, the Santa Train’s visit to Newton is sure to bring smiles to both the young and young at heart.
