The Newton Lady Eagles powered through three games at the Bob Kerans Tournament this week, opening with dominant wins over Flora and Altamont before falling to a sharp-shooting Effingham squad in the final matchup. Newton closed the event with a strong 2–1 tournament record and a 4–1 overall start to the season, placing second behind champion Effingham.
Several Lady Eagles delivered standout performances across all three contests, with Allie Hermann, Izzy Meinhart, and Claire Probst earning spots on the prestigious All-Tournament Team.
Game 1 – Newton 62, Flora 31
Newton wasted no time setting the tone, exploding to an 18–6 first-quarter lead and never looking back.

In the tournament’s most anticipated matchup, undefeated Effingham connected on eight three-pointers and put together a strong second half to hand Newton its first loss of the season.
