Newton Lady Eagles dominate Neoga, 67–39

The Newton Lady Eagles put together a complete performance Monday night, rolling past the Neoga Lady Indians 67–39 in non-conference action at Newton.

Newton wasted no time taking control, opening the game on a 23–6 first-quarter run and never looking back. The Lady Eagles continued to apply pressure in the second quarter, carrying a commanding 37–10 lead into halftime. After Neoga showed some life in the third, Newton answered with another 23-point frame to keep the game firmly in hand.

Grace Schumacher led a balanced Newton attack with 18 points, scoring efficiently inside while also making her presence felt defensively. Allie Hermann followed with 14 points, while Maddie Brummer added 13 as Newton finished with 30 two-point field goals on the night.

Claire Probst anchored the Lady Eagles on both ends of the floor, pulling down a game-high 11 rebounds and handing out five assists. Alani Bergbower sparked the defense with seven steals and added nine points, while Newton’s ball pressure forced turnovers throughout the game.

Neoga was paced by Henderson with 11 points, but struggled to keep up with Newton’s tempo and depth.

With the win, Newton improves to 11–6 overall and 1–1 in conference play. The Lady Eagles will return to action Thursday night when they host Lawrenceville in a varsity-only contest tipping off at 6:00 p.m.
