NCHS Greenhouse Opening Returns for Second Year

The Newton Community High School greenhouse will officially open its doors for the season on Friday, April 18, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., marking the start of its second year serving the community.

Following a successful debut last year, the greenhouse is once again ready to welcome visitors with a wide selection of fresh plants, great deals, and an opportunity to support local students.

This year’s selection features a wide variety of petunias, hanging pots, and many grasses, along with plenty of additional plants to fit gardens, patios, and landscaping needs.

What makes the greenhouse especially meaningful is the hands-on work behind it. The plants are carefully grown and maintained by members of the FFA as well as students enrolled in horticulture classes at NCHS. From planting and watering to daily care and preparation for sale, students play an active role in every step of the process.

The project not only provides quality plants for the community but also gives students valuable real-world experience in agriculture, plant science, and business skills.

Community members are encouraged to stop by, browse the selection, and support the students who have put in the work to make the greenhouse a success once again.

With another season underway, NCHS is ready to build on last year’s momentum—and judging by the excitement, they’re more than ready for year two.
