Richard Smith age 61, of Newton passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at his residence.
Memorial service will be held at a later date.
Richard was born November 29, 1964 in Peotone Illinois, he was the son of Chester Arthur Smith and Karen Darlene ( Phillips ) Smith. He married Kimberly Ann Cornwell on November 24, 1990, she survives. He is also survived by his sons, Tyler Smith ( Amy ), Trace Cornwell, both of Newton, His daughter Tessa Blankenship ( Brian) of Newton. His mother, Karen Darlene Wallace, and step-father Charles Wallace, his Grandchildren, Layna Smith, Kynleigh Smith, Hazeleigh Smith, Taimen Smith, and Jayden Blankenship. Brother’s Jerry Smith, Bryan Smith, and Jaime Smith. Sister, Karen Wallace, also survives. He was preceded by his father.
Richard was a carpenter for Kirchner’s Builder in Newton, He loved to hunt, go fishing, playing pool and being outside.
