
The Jasper County Community Unit School District No. 1 Board of Education met in a special session on Monday, June 29, 2026, at the Board of Education Office.
Board members in attendance were David Blecha, Jackie Schackmann, Mandy Rieman, Evan Semple, Nichole Mulvey, and Mandi Utley. Board President Brady Shull was absent. Mandy Rieman called the meeting to order.
The board approved the meeting agenda before opening the floor for public comments. No guests addressed the board.
Board members entered executive session at 6:31 p.m. to discuss personnel matters under Section 2(c)(1) of the Illinois Open Meetings Act, which allows closed-session discussions regarding the appointment, employment, compensation, performance, or dismissal of individual employees.
The board returned to open session at 7:37 p.m., where it approved a Notice to Remedy for tenured teacher Jaime Newkirk. The board also approved a 10-day suspension without pay for Newkirk.
Following the personnel actions, the meeting adjourned at 7:39 p.m.
The next regular meeting of the Jasper County Community Unit School District No. 1 Board of Education is scheduled for Monday, July 20, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. at the Board of Education Office.
