NEWTON – St. Thomas School is inviting the community to take part in one of its favorite annual traditions as the 14th Annual Duck Race returns on Sunday, Aug. 16, at the Newton Aquatic Center.
The event will begin at 11 a.m., when hundreds of numbered rubber ducks will race to the finish line for a chance to win cash prizes while raising funds for the St. Thomas School Booster Club.
This year’s race features three cash prizes:
- First Place: $600
- Second Place: $250
- Third Place: $100
Only 500 ducks will be sold, giving participants a chance to purchase a lucky duck before they are gone. Ducks are available for $5 each at St. Thomas School, St. Thomas Church, and Peoples State Bank.
Following the race, everyone who purchased a duck will be invited to enjoy free swimming at the Newton Aquatic Center until noon, making the event a fun outing for the entire family. Attendees are also encouraged to bring a lawn chair and a friend to enjoy the festivities.
In addition to the cash prizes, one lucky participant who chooses the correct duck number will receive a $25 gift certificate to a local business.
All proceeds from the Duck Race benefit the St. Thomas School Booster Club, helping support students and school activities throughout the year.
