Residents of Jasper County will have an opportunity to meet congressional candidate Julie Fortier during a town hall meeting on Saturday, August 8, in Newton.
The event will be held from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 707 S. Van Buren Street, Newton. The gathering is open to the public, with organizers encouraging all community members to attend.
Fortier, who is running for Illinois’ 12th Congressional District, is hosting the town hall as part of her campaign to meet with voters, hear their concerns, and discuss issues affecting communities across southern Illinois.
In addition to the public discussion, the campaign is partnering with local volunteers to host a community food drive during the event. Attendees are encouraged to bring nonperishable food items, which will be collected for local food pantries and mutual aid networks.
The town hall offers residents an opportunity to ask questions, share concerns, and learn more about Fortier’s platform ahead of the upcoming election.
The event is free and open to the public.
