The Newton Community High School Eagles continued their perfect start to the 2026 season Thursday night, sweeping Casey-Westfield in varsity action, 25-10 and 25-21.
Newton also earned a junior varsity sweep, defeating Casey 25-15 and 25-16.
The varsity victory improves the Eagles to 13-0 overall and 1-0 in Little Illini Conference play.
Newton controlled the opening set, taking a 25-10 victory before Casey battled harder in the second. The Eagles maintained their composure and closed out the match with a 25-21 win.
Jossie Stanley directed the Newton offense with 16 assists while also recording four aces, five digs and one block. Allie Hermann led the Eagles with seven kills and added two aces, three assists and six digs.
Layla Thomann and Claire Probst each recorded five kills. Thomann added one ace, one assist and six digs, while Probst contributed one ace, two assists, five digs and one block.
Grace Schumacher finished with three kills and four digs. Mariah McVicar added one kill, while Emma Brooks recorded one ace and one dig.
