The next community meeting to discuss the Cannabis Regulation and Tax Act and how it will relate to Jasper County and the City of Newton will be held on November 12 at 6:30 pm in the NCHS Auditorium. The decisions made by the City and County will only be for their areas.The City of Newton’s decision will only be for the City of Newton and a one mile radius around. The County of Jasper decision will be for all of Jasper County except the City of Newton (and the one mile) and all unincorporated towns. Incorporated towns will have to make their own decisions about the act.
All are welcome.
The community will have the opportunity to voice their opinions or ask questions for City and County officials to hear before the decision is made whether to opt in or out. Discussion can also include if they opt in, what degree would the community be comfortable with opting in?
