The Newton Community High School Marching Eagles continued their successful 2026 competition season with a first-place finish at the Monticello Marching Sages Invitational.
Competing in Class 2A, the Marching Eagles earned Best Auxiliary, Best Music, and ultimately 1st Place in their class.
The Newton Marching Eagles are performing their 2026 show, “Redemption.” The production explores the idea of redemption as something that can resonate with everyone — regaining something that has been lost, freeing someone from bondage, or making amends for past wrongs.
The show carries religious undertones while presenting redemption as a universal message. Musical selections featured in the production include “How Great Thou Art,” the Doxology (Old One Hundredth), and Franz Biebl’s “Ave Maria.”
The combination of music, visual performance and auxiliary elements brought the Newton ensemble recognition in multiple categories at Monticello, with the group taking home awards for Best Auxiliary and Best Music before being named the Class 2A champion.
The Marching Eagles will continue their 2026 competition season as they bring their “Redemption” production to the field at upcoming competitions.
