Lea Creadore at Rotary

On October 15, the Newton Rotary Club heard from Lea Creadore (right), Vice-President of the Jasper County Chamber of Commerce board. She talked about the many projects they have done this year, especially the wildly successful Queen of Hearts drawings. They also held a jeep run, cruise night, Corvette Fun Fest, Scare on the Square, and Fall Festival, which was shortened to a one-day event this year with free games and activities for kids, which seemed to boost participation. These events are possible by the hard work of the Chamber of Commerce and the family, workers and volunteers from the schools, county and city to assist with them. In December they will hold special Holly Jolly shopping nights for three Fridays, with a Light Parade, artificial ice rink, and other activities. Their new website is still under construction. The Chamber board meetings, which are open to the public, are held on the first Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at the Chamber office. You don’t have to join to help with specific events or ideas. Chairperson for the day was Rotarian Tom Clark (left), who is also Creadore’s Grandfather.

**Editor Note: we copy and paste these articles as given, however, we do want to clarify that the Queen of Hearts is not part of the Chamber, it is with the Newton Athletic Boosters.
