On April 26th, 2020, the Newton Junior Woman’s Club (NJWC) will host their 3rd Annual Prevent Child Abuse Superhero 5k Run/Walk and 1 mile Kid’s Fun Run. The event will take place at Peterson Park at the small pavilion. Packet Pick-up will begin at 1:30 with the event kicking off at 2:00. We encourage participants to come dressed as their favorite superhero. We believe “Every Child needs a hero, but abused and neglected children need superheroes!” This year’s event will be timed by Kinetic Timing. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Lincoln’s Place to help them achieve their goal of providing a playground “where everybody comes to play”. Every April we observe Child Abuse Prevention month by placing signs and pinwheels at 3 of the entrances into our community (by Peterson Park, by Norris Electric, and by Villas of Holly Brook) as a reminder to our community that it is the responsibility of each one of us to help strengthen families and protect our children. You can pick up a sign-up sheet for the run from the bulletin boards at IGA, The Freeze, or Parklanes or you can visit our FB page.
