Jennifer Kaye Whitehurst, age 46

Jennifer Kaye Whitehurst, age 46, died on August 19th, 2020, in Sacramento, CA. She left peacefully, in her home, with her family by her side.

Jennifer is survived by her sister, Erin, brother in law Ben, nephews Andrew and Tucker, nieces Makayla, Willow, and Scarlet, of Marysville; her loving dog Bimmer, and cats Simba and Emma. She is preceded in death by her husband Brandon Whitehurst of Antioch CA, mother Joan Edie, of Marysville CA.; her father Winston Edie, of Hayward CA. grandparents Byron and Myrtle Groesbeck, and Winston and Betty Edie of Fremont CA; and her babies Baxter, Bailey and Max.

Jennifer was born on June 18th, 1974 in Santa Clara, CA, to parents Joan and Winston Edie. She graduated from San Jose State University in 2000 with a degree in Accounting. In 2001, she moved to Antioch, CA. and accepted a position as an Auditor with the California Insurance Commissioner, where she worked for almost 20 years.

Jennifer lived together with Brandon Whitehurst in Antioch for 7 years but had been with Brandon for 18 years before marrying in St. Louis in 2008. Jen and Brandon enjoyed traveling together and spending time doing things with their friends and family, taking pictures and sharing every bit of their life together, before Brandon tragically passed in October 2009.

After Brandon’s passing, Jen continued to travel and spend time with her friends, while also enjoying time being a wonderful Aunt to her sister Erin’s children. Jen would spoil them with gifts at birthdays and at Christmas and accompanied the kids on almost every trip they took to Disneyland. Jen continued her hobby of photography, always having a camera handy to take pictures of friends, their pets, and whatever events were happening around her. Jen soon turned this into a business, photographing events, outdoor portraits, and pets. Jen was also a devoted daughter to her mother Joan, with her and Erin working together to make sure she was well taken care of while Joan struggled with Alzheimer’s her last few years. In 2018, Jennifer transferred her position to Sacramento, moving there to be closer to her sister and her nieces and nephews.

Jennifer will be laid to rest next to Brandon, at a private graveside service on August 28th at Westlawn Memorial Park in Newton Il. Details for a memorial service in California will be posted on Jennifer’s memorial page on Facebook
