5th Grader at St. Thomas Tests Positive for COVID

August 27, 2020

Dear School Families,
Today, St. Thomas School was notified that a student in 5th grade has tested positive
for the COVID-19 virus. The Jasper County Health Department (JCHD) immediately
informed the families of those who are affected and must be quarantined. Those
students have already gone home and will do remote learning for the period of time
recommended by the JCHD.
I am thankful to all of our students and staff who have been following the protocol
and doing their very best to keep all of us healthy, which allows only a small number to
be affected by this positive test. Please keep all of these families in your daily prayers.
We, as a St. Thomas family, eagerly await their return and will miss what they
contribute to their classes.
If you have any questions, please feel free to call or email me any time.
Sincerely,

Jill Bierman

Mrs. Jill Bierman
Principal

As a reference, here are the CDC guidelines on quarantine, including the standard for
when to quarantine, and how to count the beginning day (last day of close contact with
the person who had the positive test) and the guidelines for people who get the positive
test or have symptoms. We do follow the JCHD’s recommendations.
