4th Grader at St Thomas Tests Positive for COVID

August 30, 2020

Dear School Families,

Today, St. Thomas School was notified that one of our 4th grade students has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. The Jasper County Health Department (JCHD) immediately informed us, and all students affected have been contacted. If you have not received a call, this does not affect your child directly.

I am thankful to all of our students and staff who have been following the protocol and doing their very best to keep all of us healthy.

Please keep this student and their family in your prayers. Thankfully, the student is doing well with only light symptoms. We, as a St. Thomas family, eagerly await their return and will miss their smile and contribution to their class and our school.

If you have any questions, please feel free to call or email me any time. Sincerely,

Jill Bierman

Mrs. Jill Bierman Principal

As a reference, here are the CDC guidelines on quarantine, including the standard for when to quarantine, and how to count the beginning day (last day of close contact with the person who had the positive test) and the guidelines for people who get the positive test or have symptoms. We do follow the JCHD’s recommendations.
