David Patrick Brooks, age 60, of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 1:15 PM – Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at his home.
Private family services will be held. In loving memory of David, memorials may be made to the Jasper County Cancer Fund and can be sent to the Brooks Family 9392 North 900 th Street, Newton, Illinois 62448. David was born on May 7, 1960, in Olney, Illinois, the son of Royal Levi and Catherine Margaret “Kay” (Hammond) Brooks. He married Patricia Beals on October 4, 1980, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Newton, Illinois.

David graduated from Newton Community High School in 1978. In October 1979, he started his career at Norris Electric Cooperative in Newton, and retired after 38 years of service.

David was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Newton, IBEW #702. He was a volunteer for the Boys Scouts troop #156 and helped with the BSA pinewood derby for several years and even built and donated a new electronic derby track.
David had a passion for woodworking, he enjoyed using his sawmill, lathe, and scroll saws to make creations that he shared with others.

David enjoyed his time with spent with his children and grandchildren and was so proud of their accomplishments. His best buddy for the last 14 years has been his little dachshund, “Deuce” who was always his shadow.

David is survived by:

Children – Ethan (wife Christine) Brooks of Teutopolis, Illinois; Branda (husband Joseph) Hardig of Oblong, Illinois; Richard (wife Kristin) Brooks of Pompano Beach, Florida; Cinnamon Glaze of Hueytown, Alabama and Patrick Brooks of Newton, Illinois

Brother – John (Debbie) Brooks of Newton, Illinois
Sister – Linda Klebe of Muscatine, Iowa
11 Grandchildren
2 Great Grandchildren

David was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Daisy Brooks, brother Ron Brooks and mother and father-in-law Mary Jane and

Harry V. Beals.
