Carol I. Slack, age 85, of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 11:45 AM – Monday, March 15, 2021, at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in

Springfield, Illinois.

Funeral services celebrating Carol’s life will be held at 12:00 PM (Noon) – Monday, March 22, 2021, at the Central Christian Church
in Newton, Illinois, with Mike Knepper and Scottie Wilson officiating. Burial will be in the Honey Cemetery in Bogota, Illinois.
Visitation will be held 1 hour before the service. In loving memory of Carol, memorials may be made to the Newton Ministerial
Association. Arrangements are under the care of Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois. The obituary can be viewed and

Carol was born on March 5, 1936, in Jasper County, Illinois, the daughter of Roy and Mabel (McDaniel) Foltz. She married Dean

Slack on October 23, 1954, at Central Christian Church in Newton, Illinois.
Carol graduated from Newton Community High School in 1954.

Carol worked as a school bus driver for Jasper Unit #1 and was the first lady driver in Jasper County. She also helped Dean farm and

raise their daughters.

Carol was a member of the Central Christian Church, Jasper County Home Extension, Bridge Club, Garden Club and the Red Hat

Society. She enjoyed painting, making ceramics, camping, horse back riding and restoring furniture.

Carol is survived by:

Husband of 67 years – Dean Slack of Newton, Illinois

Daughters – Pixie (Dale) Mahaney of Newton, Illinois; Jody (Nick) Milliman of Newton, Illinois

and Bonny (Steven) Boyd of Sigel, Illinois

Grandchildren – Farrah (Chad) Campbell, Clayton Mahaney, Clint (Jessica) Milliman, Gage (Trista) Milliman, Nichole (Jimmy)
Gibson, Heather (Brian) Fuesting, Brandy (Eli) Lock, Lena (Sam) Schafer, Joe (Angie) Stark and Chad Boyd
Great Grandchildren – Hoyt, Henry, Wyatt, Madi, Kenzie, Caleb, Bree, Tristyn, Kade, Eli, Jaidyn, Tommy, Ali, and one on the way

Brother – Terry Foltz of Homestead, Florida

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, grandchildren Joshua Milliman and Jessica Milliman, great grandchildren Hardy

Milliman, brother Roy Foltz, Jr and a sister Jean Korn.
