The City of Newton is looking for an Independent Contractor interested in serving as the
cities Home Inspector/Building Code Official. The position requires the contractor to be
available no more than 1 day a week unless required.
The Home Inspector/Building Code Official must possess knowledge of applicable
building, plumbing, mechanical and electrical codes; knowledge of applicable municipal
codes, regulations and ordinances, structural design, engineering, and building plan
review; knowledge of construction materials and practices; and has skills in effective
oral and written communication and documentation.
