Following is a summary of minutes of a special meeting of the Board of Education of Jasper County Community Unit School District No. 1 held at Newton Elementary in the old library at 5pm on Tuesday, March 23, 2021. Board members present were Mr. Gordon Millsap, Mr. Jon Fulton, Mrs. Mandy Rieman and Mrs. Mindy Street. Members absent: Mrs. Holly Farley, Mr. Bill Meinhart and Mr. Jason Kuhl.
All votes are considered unanimous unless otherwise noted.
Gordon Millsap called the meeting to order.
The agenda was adopted as presented.
There were no guests or public comments.
Approval to offer Social Emotional Learning (SEL) academic programs for summer 2021, Ste. Marie Elementary and Newton Elementary academic programs for summer of 2021 and Jasper County Junior High and Newton Community High School academic programs for summer of 2021. There will be further details at the April board meeting.
The board went into executive session at 5:09pm for 5 ILCS 120/2 ( c ) ( 1 ) – To consider information Regarding Appointment, Employment or Dismissal of Individual Employees and 5 ILCS 120/2/ ( c ) (5) Purchase or lease of real property.
Approval to return to open session at 5:55pm.
Approval of Superintendent’s Contract by adding one more year to his present contract, through June 30, 2024.
Approval to transfer Katy Conder from Director of Social Emotional Programs/Newton Elementary Assistant Principal to full time Director of Social Emotional Programs for the District and Newton Elementary Counselor effective July 1, 2021.
Approval to transfer Kyle Klier from Jasper County Junior High Math Teacher to Assistant Principal at Newton Elementary effective July 1, 2021 on a 10 month contract.
Approval to advertise for a Jasper County Junior High Teacher (preferred ELA, Math, but not necessary to apply) to start with the 2021-2022 school year.
Approval to advertise for a Jasper County Junior High/Newton Community High School full time substitute teacher to start with the 2021-2022 school year.
