Arlene Bower, age 84, of Olney, Illinois, passed away at 6:05 PM – Friday, May 21, 2021, at HSHS St Anthony’s Memorial Hospital
in Effingham, Illinois.
Funeral services celebrating Arlene’s life will be held at 3:00 PM – Tuesday, May 25, 2021, at the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton,
Illinois, with Gary Wachtel officiating. Burial will be in the Trexler Cemetery in rural Newton, Illinois. Visitation will be held 1 hour before the service. In loving memory of Arlene, memorials may be made to Claws and Paws. The obituary can be viewed and condolences left at www.meyerfh.com.
Arlene was born on June 21, 1936, in McLean County, Illinois, the son of Chester and Marie (Wells) Scott. She graduated from Newton Community High School in 1954.
Arlene was united in marriage to Kenneth Bower on September 20, 1957, in Richland County, Illinois, and he preceded her in death on March 2, 2003.
Arlene worked for Murvin Oil in Olney for 21 years. She enjoyed dancing, boating, fishing and visiting with family and friends.

Sisters – Beatrice “Short” (husband Larry) Kibler of Olney, Illinois and Thelma Bigard of West Liberty, Illinois
Sisters-in-law – DeAnn Scott of Newton, Illinois and Wanda Bower of Wheeler, Illinois
Several nieces and nephews also survive
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother Larry Scott.
