Jasper County School District #1 Board Member Vacancy
The School District is accepting applications to fill the school board vacancy resulting from the resignation of Gordon Millsap. The individual selected will serve on the Board of Education for Jasper County Community Unit School District #1 from the date of appointment until the next regular school board election to be conducted in April of 2023.
The School District, in an active partnership with parents and community, will promote excellence in a caring environment in which all students learn and grow. This partnership shall empower all students to develop a strong self-esteem and to become responsible learners and decision-makers. The School District is committed to developing and using a visionary and innovative curriculum and a knowledgeable and dedicated staff.
Applicants for the Board vacancy must be, on the date of election or appointment, a United States citizen at least 18 years of age, a resident of Illinois and the School District for at least one year immediately preceding the election, and a registered voter. In addition, applicants may not reside within Township 6N Range 9E.
Applicants should show familiarity with the Board’s policies regarding general duties and responsibilities of a Board and a Board member, including fiduciary responsibilities, conflict of interest, ethics and gift ban. To apply, please submit a letter indicating why you would like to serve on the school board and a list of your qualifications. Please include your current residence address in the School District.
