The Newton Eagles Soccer team won against Pinckneyville with a final score of 4-3 in their season opener at the St. Anthony Tournament. Goals were scored by Carder Reich with an assist by Ross Farley, Seth Weber, Ross Farley, and a penalty kick by Eli Weber.
Coach Matt Creadore talks about the game stating, “We came out a little slow and a little flat. They got out ahead of us quick. We ended the 1st half tied. Came out with a lot of intensity the second half but quickly went down another one. Tied it up and finally got ahead with a PK near the end.
We played well but have a lot of things to fine tune and work on going forward.”
The Eagles continue with the tournament today at 4pm and on Saturday at 11:15 and 1:45 in Teutopolis.
