May T. Seessengood age 96, of Macon, Illinois formerly of Newton passed away
Saturday, November 13, 2021 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Decatur, Illinois.
Graveside services will be held at 12 noon, Thursday, November 18, 2021, at West Lawn
Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton, Illinois with Rev. Steve Willis officiating.
Interment will be in the West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are in care
of the Crain Funeral Home, Newton.
May was born on February 10, 1925 in Lawrenceville, Illinois the daughter of Joe and
Annie Trembley. On June 9, 1957, May married John Harlin Seessengood. He preceded
her in death on December 26, 1983. May was a licensed funeral director. Together with
her husband Harlin, they owned and operated the Seessengood Funeral Home in Newton.
Having a life-long love of animals, May was also a licensed dog groomer for many years.
Her memberships include the First Baptist Church of Newton, the Tabernacle Baptist
Church of Decatur and the Newton Chapter No. 497, Order of the Eastern Star. In her
free time, May enjoyed cooking. She was an avid seamstress, having sewed many suits
and dresses for work and Eastern Star. While living in Effingham, May volunteered in
the Effingham School District, where she received an award of excellence for her service.
May will be remembered by her daughter Kay Antrim, husband Charles Decatur; step
daughter Sara Lynn Piper of Muncie, Indiana; granddaughters DenaRae Walter (Jake) of
Southborough, MA and Shelly Hosselton of T-Town; great grandchildren Chase Walter
and Ty Walter both of Southborough, MA, Gina Levi and Devin Gragert both of
Louisville; great great grandchildren Ezabella & Danae Levi, Alex Booze, Zoe Gragert,
Amelia Gragert and Arlen Gragert all of Louisville; sister Nellie Shidler of Champaign;
and nieces and nephews Richard Prange and Jeanette, Dee Weaver and Louise, David
Weaver and Joann, JoEllen Krahn and Jeddi, Deeanna Shilder, Debra Shidler, Sharon
Prange and Andrea Trimbley Strong; and many great nieces and nephews.
Her parents, husband, brother Andy Trembley, sisters Ellen Weaver and Marian Prange
and nephew Gene Prange preceded her in death.
