NCHS White Christmas: Senior Cast Member Bailey Traxler

Bailey Traxler daughter of Elizabeth Liston-Reyes will be in the NCHS Musical production of White Christmas on December 16-19th.

What musicals have you been in at NCHS and what characters/roles did you play?

I was in Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat as Dan’s Wife.

What was your favorite musical and why?

White Christmas has definitely been my favorite musical because it has been so much fun to learn and we are all good friends.

What scene in White Christmas is your favorite and why? (This does not have to be a scene you are in)

My favorite scene is “Love you didn’t do right by me” It is such an emotional and heart-touching song that I love listening to backstage.

What are three things being in the musical have taught you? and how have you learned these?

Musicals have taught me to be flexible with my time, you never know what can happen and what changes you’ll have to make on the fly. It has taught me to be more confident with myself and my abilities. Finally, it has taught me true friendship, I have made many friends through musicals that without it, probably would never have happened.

What are two pieces of advice you would give young people who want to start performing in musicals at NCHS?

Don’t knock it till you try it, it is such a fun experience that I think everyone should try at least once while they are in high school. Have fun, you can have fun every step of the way from auditions to practices. Musicals are supposed to be a fun experience to let go of your worries and enjoy it.

What qualities do you see exemplified in the adults who help put on this show that you will take with you as you leave NCHS and how do they demonstrate these qualities?

The adults are very committed to us and the show. They dedicate countless hours of their time to help us and I think that is something all of us should look up to and appreciate.

What will you miss the most once the final curtain closes on your NCHS musical career?

I will definitely miss the performances however, most of all I will miss the sense of family/community we have formed throughout our many practices.
