Marianna Lee (Tipps) Mahaney, 81, passed away at home January 29, 2022, in Fort Myers, Florida. She
was born August 16, 1940 the daughter of Daniel Huston and his wife Virginia Catherine (Stegall) Tipps,
both of whom preceded her in death. She lived her childhood in Cowden, Illinois. She married John
Wesley Mahaney on April 23, 1961 in Effingham, IL.
Marianna is survived by her three daughters Gretchen Lee husband Curtis Caldwell, Adriane
Gayle husband Andy Bruington, Ingrid Catherine husband Brett Paige. Grandchildren Adam, Alexis,
Hanna, Cedric, Hunter and Fischer remember her fondly and loved her fried chicken. She has two great
granddaughters Sophia and Penelope. She is preceded in death by a brother Herschel Tipps, Kenneth
Tipps, and a sister Edith Mary, as well as her sister Sharon Lynn in infancy.
In 1958 after graduation from high school in Cowden, Illinois she attended Laura Halford beauty
Academy. In 1974 Marianna and her husband John purchased Jacksonville Monument Company and
was instrumental in supporting many community memorials and monuments in Jacksonville, Illinois.
She was a member of Future Homemakers of America, Pilot Club International, Alter and Rosary Society
and Catholic Daughters of America. Her patron saint was St. Jude. She enjoyed bluegrass, spiritual music
and attending church.
A memorial service is planned in Newton, Illinois at a later date.
