Poster Contest Winners
The Jasper County Soil and Water Conservation District sponsored their
annual 5 th and 6 th grade poster contest. The theme for this year was Healthy
Forests, Healthy Communities. All 5 th and 6 th grade students in the county were
invited to participate. The District received a total of 214 posters and they were
judged by Jasper County SWCD & NRCS staff and directors.
Lauren Gier, a 6 th grader at Saint Thomas, had the first-place poster.
Jackson James a 6 th grader at Newton Elementary placed second and Jaidyn
Sparling a 6 th grader at Newton Elementary placed third.
There were also ten runner-up posters. Zoey Beavers, Peyton Lindley, &
Noelle Sappenfield; 6 th graders from Newton Elementary, Ellie Dobbins, Jossie
Stanley, & Nora Street; 5 th graders from Newton Elementary, Alani Bergbower,
Adria Bierman, & Tyler Spiker; 6 th graders from Saint Thomas, Emma
Schumacher; 5 th grader from Saint Thomas.
Congratulations to the winners and thank you to all the 5 th and 6 th graders
of the county that participated in the Jasper County Soil and Water Conservation
District’s Poster Contest. The winning posters will be on display at the Peoples
State Bank until May 11 th
