t came down to the last play, but 2022 Newton Lady Eagles was on the wrong end of a 2-1 defeat to Freeburg Freeburg Midgets Softball Varsity on Wednesday. The game was tied at one with Freeburg Freeburg Midgets Softball Varsity batting in the bottom of the eighth when Sam Roulanaitis singled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Freeburg Freeburg Midgets Softball Varsity pitchers struck out 13, while 2022 Newton Lady Eagles sat down two.

Addy O’Dell and Bailee Frichtl all had one hit to lead 2022 Newton Lady Eagles. 2022 Newton Lady Eagles didn’t commit a single error in the field. O’Dell had the most chances in the field with five.
Freeburg Freeburg Midgets Softball Varsity had eight hits in the game. Roulanaitis and Muskopf all managed multiple hits for Freeburg Freeburg Midgets Softball Varsity.
