Charles Eugene Albert age 87, of Newton passed away Thursday, June 23, 2022 at Helia Healthcare of Newton.
Cremation rites will be accorded for Mr. Albert. Interment services will be held in the Hazel Dell Cemetery at a later date.
Eugene was born on August 17, 1934 in Hidalgo, Illinois the son of Charles Ray “Jack” and Inez (Hunsaker) Albert. He attended Dewey School in Cumberland County and Newton High School. Eugene severed his country in the United States Navy. He was a member the Hidalgo Church of Christ where he was baptized. Having a great love of animals, Eugene spent his time caring for the many cats in his neighborhood.
Survivors include sisters Dorothy Retzolk of Greenup and Donna Spannagel, husband John of Hidalgo and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Keitha Shaffer, Norma Lou Brown, Theresa Nadine Albert and Janice Pippin.
