Jasper County Property Tax Bill Information

The Jasper County Treasurer’s office has now mailed out all Real Estate and Mobile Home tax bills and the due dates have changed this year.

The Treasurer’s office is providing some answers to frequently asked questions below.

I haven’t received my bill yet. When will I get it?

Tax bills were mailed on July 22, 2022. If you do not receive your bill by July 30, 2022, please contact our office at 618-783-3211.

When are the installments due this year?

The first installment of the 2021 payable 2022 real estate tax is due August 30, 2022

The second installment of the 2021 payable 2022 real estate tax is due September 30, 2022

Mobile home taxes are due September 30, 2022

Why are the due dates later this year?

The property tax cycle is divided into six steps and the Treasurer’s office is the last office in the process that consists of only printing, mailing and collection of the taxes. By law the Treasurer’s office is required to provide a minimum of 30 days from date of mailing bills to taxpayers before the first installment is due. Due to delays in the assessment office this year, the Treasurer’s office did not receive their portion of the process until July 11, 2022, therefore the due dates had to be moved.

What do I do if I believe my tax bill is incorrect or have questions concerning changes in my assessment ?

Your tax bill amount due is primarily determined by two factors; the equalized assessed value of your property and the tax rate. Questions regarding the equalized assessed values or exemptions should be directed to the County Assessor’s office at 618-783-8042. The tax rates are computed by the Clerk based on the amount levied by each local government taxing body (these factors combined determine your tax bill amount due). Questions regarding the tax rates and levies should be directed to the County Clerk at 618-783-3124.

What if I purchased property in 2022?

If you purchased property in late 2021 or 2022, you should check with your closing agent or attorney to see if you owe the current taxes due on the property purchased. Depending upon the closing and document recording dates, the tax bill may have been sent to the previous owner.

What if I need to make an address change?
