Judith Ann Whitehurst, age 73, of Newton passed away Thursday, October 20, 2022 at home.
Memorial services to celebrate Judy’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, October 24, 2022 at the
Crain Funeral Home, Newton, Illinois with Mike Woodard officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00
a.m. until time of service Monday in the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded with private
family interment services.
Judy was born on October 7, 1949 in Newton, Illinois the daughter of Delbert N. and Gwendolyn Fern
Kerner. On May 27, 2006, Judy married Stanley Whitehurst. For many years, Judy worked at E.R. Moore
as a presser. In her free time, Judy enjoyed playing games on her computer. She and Stan enjoyed time
outdoors working in the garden, camping and fishing. Earlier in life, Judy enjoyed sports, especially soft
ball, bowling and playing pool.
Judy will be loved and remembered by her husband Stanley Whitehurst of Newton; sons Delbert
Sheppard, wife Jackie of Newton; James Frye, wife Robyn of Newton; Wayne Frye, wife Megan of
Toledo, IL and Scott Frye of Sullivan, IL; step-children Lindsay Jayne, husband Daniel of Albion and Levi
Whitehurst of Newton; 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; brothers Jim Kerner of Newton and
Mike Kerner, wife Jenny of Willow Hill and sister Wanda Portlock of Newton.
Her parents, sisters Betty Owen and Delores Bachman and a great-grandchild preceded her death.
