The City of Newton would like to remind citizens the following city offices are in the 2023 Consolidated Primary Election, February 28, 2023.
- 1 alderman Ward #1 (4 year term)
- 1 alderman Ward #2 (4 year term)
- 1 alderman Ward #3 (4 year term)
- If the offices are uncontested there will be no primary. The candidates will be voted into office at the Consolidated Election on April 4, 2023.
And the 2023 Consolidated Election April 4, 2023
- 4 Zoning Board Members (4 year term)
Primary Petitions can be filed Monday through Friday beginning November 21-28, 2022 between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm. The independent candidate petitions are filed from December 12-19, 2022. All filings will take place at the front counter in the Office of the City Clerk, City Hall 108 N. Van Buren. In the Clerk’s absence, Deputy City Clerks Brenda Phillips and Amy J. Tarr will be available to receive nominating petitions. All the forms to file for candidacy are in the “2023 Candidate’s Guide” which is available on the State Board of Elections website at www.elections.state.il.us.
