Robert Joe “Bob” Shawver, age 71, formerly of Casey, Illinois, passed away at 11:17 AM – Saturday, January 14, 2023, at Robinson Rehab and Nursing in Robinson, Illinois.

Robert Joe Shawver was born on April 4, 1951, in Terre Haute, Indiana, the son of Kenneth Fremont and Edith Ellen (Glenn) Shawver. He grew up in Casey, Illinois but called many places home. He was a very likeable guy and a joy to be around. He made friends wherever he went, many didn’t know him as Robert or Bob but rather as “Slug”.
Bob enjoyed being outdoors, mushroom hunting, fishing, and finding the next treasure. He found treasures in what others would call junk. He loved to collect bottles, jars, rocks and just about anything else you can think of. You could always count on hearing a good story when you visited with him, some were true, and some were not. Over the years he had several dogs whom he consistently named “Shit Head” a nick name he liked to use.
Bob is survived by:
Children – Rob Seaney of Reno, Nevada; Jennifer (Bob) Pritts of Oblong, Illinois; and Sessaly (Jeff) Miller of Robinson, Illinois
Grandchildren – Garrett (Savanna) Pritts, Kayla (Hayden) Reeves and Mason Lewis
Sisters – Roberta “Bertie” (Michael) Fischer of Newton, Illinois; and Shirley Nees of Charleston, Illinois
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Carl Lee Wright and Richard Wright and a sister Susie Richards.
