Jasper County Community Unit #1, Board of Education Meeting
Report February 20, 2023
Superintendent’s Report:
- The Jasper County School District discussed the $3,100,000 HLS Bonds Series 2023 that will be used to work on roofing and electrical projects in the District.
- The bonds were sold locally at Peoples State Bank.
- The District will look to use the 1% sales tax to help keep the tax rate steady throughout the lifespan of the HLS Bonds Series.
- The District is looking at the 2023-2024 school calendar and will look to vote on the calendar in March.
- The District is looking at options for a high school trip to Washington D.C. for high school students for the 2023-2024 school year.
New Business
- Approved a non-renewal of a lease agreement with the Regional Office of Education for use of the Willow Hill School.
- Approved amending the 2022-2023 school calendar.
- Approved Jennifer Maxon as the Jasper County School District representative for IMRF.
Second Reading of Board Policies:
- The Board approved the second reading of Press Policies.
Resignations
- Accepted the resignation of Heather Baud effective January 26, 2023.
Hires
- Approval of Kristi Scarbrough NCHS English Teacher to start with the
2023-2024 school year.
- Approval of Drew Hanson NCHS Foreign Language Teacher to start
with the 2023-2024 School Year
- Approval of Josh Beverlin as NCHS AD/Teacher to start August 1,
2023 for the 2023/2024 School Year.
- Approval of Everett Fear as the NCHS Custodian effective immediately.
- Approval of Leanne Keller as the NE Cook effective immediately.
- Approval of Ashley Kistner as the NE Cook effective immediately.
- Approval of Kevin Coclasure, Jordan Coclasure, Collin Smith,Paul Marchini, and Riley Britton for the Strong Boys Program at NE.
Approve to Advertise:
- Approval to advertise a NCHS Cheerleading Sponsor 2023-2024.
- Approval to advertise a NES Paraprofessional Position for 2022-2023.
