Following is a summary of minutes of a regular meeting of the Board of Education of Jasper County
Community Unit School District No. 1 held in the office of the Board of Education on Monday, February
20 th , 2023 held in the office of the Board of Education. Board members present were Mrs. Mandy
Rieman, Mrs. Holly Farley, Mr. Bill Meinhart, Mrs. Mandi Utley, Mr. Brady Shull, Mr. Jason Kuhl, and Mr.
Jerry L. Jed Earnest.
All votes are considered unanimous unless otherwise noted.
Mandy Rieman called the meeting to order.
Agenda was approved as presented.
Mandy asked for Recognition of Guests and Public Comments.
Brett Lesley from Peoples State Bank presented the nine Illinois State Scholars with a Silver Eagle Coin.
Scholars presented were: Morgan Buerster, Brandon Einhorn, Alexis Hetzer, Ali Kirts, Issac Kocher,
Owen Mahaffey, Nick Shamhart. Scholars absent were Cooper Gosnell and Heidi Lindemann.
There were 2 FOIA request status reports. FOIA #1 response to Pullen’s request for a video via thumb
drive of January 16, 2023 school board meeting. FOIA #2 response to Illinois Retired Teachers
Association requesting names and emails of any certified staff who are retiring this year.

Under the superintendent’s report, an agreement was discussed to issue $3.1 million in Series 2023
Bonds through the Peoples State Bank of Newton to be used on roofing and electrical projects within
the district. The 2023-2024 School Calendar was presented. The Proposal for a Washington D.C. Trip
planned for March 10-14, 2024 was discussed and will continue looking at options for the trip.
