Jed Earnest Resigns from JCCU1 School Board

We have received the following from Mr. Jerry L (Jed) Earnest via electronic communication at 12:53pm

Per School Board Policy 2:70 Vacancies on the School Board – Filling Vacancies

            Vacancies

            Elective office of a School Board member becomes vacant before the term’s expiration when any of the following occurs:

2.     Resignation in writing filed with the Secretary of the School Board;

I Jerry L. (Jed) Earnest wish to formally file my resignation with Board Secretary Holly Farley for the follow reason(s):

            On the morning of February 7, I was taken by ambulance from my home to Sarah Bush Lincoln hospital where I remained till February 11. During that stay I was diagnosed with severe anemia (hemoglobin level of 3.5). I received 6 units of blood during those 5 days. During a follow-up blood workup, it was discovered my iron level was 13 and should be between 50 to 210 for a normal 70 year old male. Last Wednesday (3/15/23) I received the first of two infusions of Iron. The second will be this Wednesday (3/29/23). Today I was given a capsule endoscopy to further try to discover what is causing the blood loss. With health issues and hospitalization in October I have decided it is in the best interest of my health to no longer serve on the board. Although I tried to withdraw my name from the ballot after my February hospital stay, I discovered the deadline to do so was January 26, 2023. So I am resigning now prior to the election so hopefully voters will not waste their vote on me and cast it for a more qualified candidate.

Please accept my official resignation effective immediately.

Jed Earnest
