Austin Moore, son of Jenny and John Milliman and Mike Moore, will be attending Quincy University in Quincy, IL as a part of Sprint Football. During his time at NCHS, Austin was an active participant in activities including Basketball freshman year, FFA freshman to junior year, and a proud member of the Eagle’s Nest student cheer section.
What made you decide this school was the best fit for you?
After my first visit to Quincy University, I knew it was the best fit for me. Academic success is not
only the school’s first priority, but also the Sprint Football coaches first priority. The school motto
is “Success by Design.” I like that the class sizes are small (14:1 student to professor ratio). It
felt like a natural fit. The QU campus feels like a small community in a larger setting.
How do you feel NCHS has prepared you for this next step in life?
NCHS has prepared me for this next step through the work of the teachers and staff supporting
us students. They allowed me the freedom to be indepedent but continued to guide me
throughout these past four years. I was also able to take dual credit courses which will help
during my college career. NCHS coaches are also very supportive. They pushed me to be my
best not only on the field, but also in the classroom.
What are at least two life lessons you have learned from sports?
The most important lesson that I learned is the importance of teamwork. Learning how to work
with others is important in all parts of life. I have learned that you should never give up no matter
the situation.
How have your coaches (and assistant coaches) helped prepare you to play at a collegiate
level?
My coaches (JFL through Varsity) have taught me to be a hardworking and supportive
teammate. They also taught me how to be a leader on the field. They stressed the importance
of success in the classroom.
What will you miss the most next year about not being at NCHS?
I will miss all of my friends and high school football under the lights.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
I would like to thank my family, especially my parents, my girlfriend Rylee Bloomer, and my
friends for all of their love and support. And my mom is my biggest fan!
