Lady Eagles Headed to Regional Championship

Newton Varsity Lady Eagles cruised to an easy victory over Lawrenceville 12-1 on Tuesday

In the first inning, Lawrenceville got their offense started when.

Newton Varsity Lady Eagles knotted the game up at one in the bottom of the first inning, when Bailee Frichtl singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

Newton Varsity Lady Eagles pulled away for good with four runs in the second inning. In the second Amelia Collins doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run and Lexie Grove singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.

Newton Varsity Lady Eagles notched six runs in the third inning. Newton Varsity Lady Eagles’s big inning was driven by singles by Grove, Allie Stanley, and Frichtl, by Collins, and a double by Addy O’Dell.

Kayla Kocher earned the win for Newton Varsity Lady Eagles. Kocher went five innings, allowing one run on three hits, striking out nine and walking zero.

Karleigh Shick took the loss for Lawrenceville. The bulldog went two and a third innings, allowing nine runs on 11 hits, striking out one and walking one.

Newton Varsity Lady Eagles totaled 15 hits. Grove, O’Dell, Camryn Martin, Lilly Kessler, and Frichtl all managed multiple hits for Newton Varsity Lady Eagles. O’Dell and Grove each collected three hits to lead Newton Varsity Lady Eagles.

Gracie Stallings went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Lawrenceville in hits. Lawrenceville was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Abby Taylor had the most chances in the field with four.
