Allison Harris, NCHS Alumni has started a business that’s taking over Newton. If you walk into Parklanes and Joe’s you can find a new treat. A variety of cookies will be for sale each day from The Cooling Rack.
My name is Allison Harris and I am the owner of the Cooling Rack. In a few weeks, I will be graduating from SNHU with my Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance. I started the Cooling Rack around 10 months ago.
What made you decide to start the Cooling Rack?
I’ve always made desserts for all different kinds of events. Last year, I made cookies and cupcakes for my parents 50th birthday party. A few people at the party made the comment that I should open a bakery. This is when the wheels started to spin. A month or so later, the Cooling Rack was ready for business.
Where did your love of baking come from?
My love of baking comes from my grandma, Judy. Some of my favorite childhood memories were in her kitchen, learning to bake. She has such a passion for baking, and I’m so glad that she handed it down to me.
Where can we find your cookies and how can people contact you for special occasions etc?
Currently, the Cooling Rack cookies can be found in Parklanes and Joes, both located in Newton. New flavors are delivered every week. Each cookie is $4.50 plus tax.
There are a few ways that you can contact me: call or text (618) 783-1283, email thecoolingrack.ah@gmail.com, or message the Cooling Rack page on Facebook.
What kind of items do you offer?
On my current menu, I offer specialty cookies, cupcakes, and ice cream. I’ve also started to branch out to cakes. I have completed several requests. Feel free to reach out with any questions on what I can do for you.
Anything else you would like to add?
The Cooling Rack would not be possible without the support of so many people. A big thank you to everyone that has supported this new adventure for me. Also, thank you to JC Daily News for covering my business.
