Following is a summary of minutes of a regular meeting of the Board of Education of Jasper County Community Unit School District No. 1 held on Monday, July 17th, 2023 in the office of the Board of Education located at 1401 Clayton Avenue. Board members present were Mrs. Mandy Rieman, Mrs. Holly Farley, Mrs. Mandi Utley, Mr. David Blecha and Mrs. Jackie Schackmann. Board members absent were Mr. Bill Meinhart and Mr. Brady Shull.
All votes are considered unanimous unless otherwise noted.
Mandy Rieman called the meeting to order.
Approval to Adopt Agenda.
Mandy asked for Recognition of Guests and Public Comments. NCHS Spring State Tennis Team, Girls Track Team, and Boys Track Team Athletes were introduced and acknowledged for their conference sectional achievements.
There was 1 FOIA request status report from Frontier Communications requesting electronic copies of both winning and losing proposal documents for a Fiber RFP from January of 2019.

$1,538 from the Maxine Spitler Foundation for the Chorus Activity Account,
$2,000 from the Maxine Spitler Foundation for the R.E.A.D Program,
$450 from the Athletic Boosters for 3 Summer Volleyball Tournaments,
$100 from the Newton Woman’s Club for the NCHS Musical,
$675.19 from the Newton Ladies Tennis Club to the Girls Tennis Team along with a case and a half of tennis balls,
$999.99 from the Maxine Spitler Foundation for Strong Boys and Strong Girls,
Approval of Consent Agenda Item D, Cole Farley as a Volunteer for NCHS Soccer. Holly Farley abstained from the vote as she is related.
Under the Superintendent’s Report, Mr. Sornberger discussed Finance Reports for Fiscal Year 23 and Fiscal Year 24. Daniel Stark presented the Transportation Report and a list of ideas to induce more drivers for the District.
