Superintendent’s Report:

Energy Transition Community Grant Program:

  • Jasper County Schools has been selected to receive an Energy Transition Community Grant in the amount of $1,567,524 from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO). 
  • DCEO looks forward to working with you to complete your project and helping to address the economic and social impact on your community of plant or mine retirements.

Eligible Projects

 Energy Transition Community Grants must be used to plan and/or address the economic and social impact on the community or region of plant or mine retirement or transition. Eligible uses of grant funds include, but are not limited to, the following: 

  • Capacity building, consultants/professional services, etc. 
  • Energy Efficiency/Renewable Energy/Clean Energy Transition planning, development, and implementation.
  • Workforce development, including upskilling and reskilling for high-demand/high-wage opportunities in regional industries, and investment in training facilities. This may include tuition assistance and wrap-around services for trainees, including stipends for housing, transportation, and childcare. 
  • Financial assistance for unemployed, underemployed, and/or low-income residents, including direct cash benefits, childcare, housing, transportation, and health care. 
  • Public infrastructure investment, including water/sewer, transportation, drainage, broadband, public facilities, and other.
  • Site cleanup and environmental remediation.
  • Grants to incentivize relocation or retention of companies. 
  • Marketing and other investment to boost tourism, recreation, and business development opportunities. 
  • Affordable housing.
  • Public health initiatives and community health care facilities.
  • Downtown/commercial redevelopment, including investment to enhance public space, improve energy efficiency/sustainability of facilities or infrastructure, and renovate/revitalize historic buildings. 
  • Planning, along with supporting research and analysis, for economic development, transportation, or other programs to address the impact of closure.
  • Investment in local or regional operational capacity for economic development/business development/grant writing/planning through local governments or nonprofits.

The District will host a special  meeting on July 8, 2024 at 6:00 to seek community input on possible uses of the grant.

  • Approved a School Resource Officer Agreement with Jasper County Board
  • Approved of NCHS Athletic Handbook & JCJH Athletic Handbook 
  • Approved Technology Lease Purchase Agreement 
  • Approved School FeesSchedule for the 2024-2025 School Year
  • Approved to update the Risk Management Plan for 2024-2025

Action out of Executive Session

  • Approved to keep Closed Session Minutes closed from January 1, 2023 to June 30, 2023
  • Approved Contract Renewals for NCHS/JCJH Principal Beth Probst, NES 

Principal Jessica Guzman, SME Principal/Special Needs Coordinator Jennifer 

Bales, and NES Assistant Principal Ryan Klier for the 2024-2025 School Year with a 4% increase

  • Approved to add a stipend for NCHS Boys/Girls Golf Coach

Resignations/Retirement

  • Approved the Retirement of Tammy Bridges at the end of the 2026-2027 School Year
  • Approved the Resignation of  as a Kristi Scarbrough NCHS English Teacher effective May 21, 2024
  • Approved the Resignation of Libby Collins as a District Paraprofessional 

Hires

  • Approved the hire of Andrew Glosser as the JCJH/NCHS Assistant Principal for the 2024-2025 School Year at a starting salary of $75,000
  • Approved the hire of Andrew Glosser as the JCJH Athletic Director for the 

2024-2025 School Year

  • Approved to hire Nicole Brown as the NCHS Family and Consumer Science Teacher and FCCLA Sponsor for the 2024-2025 School Year

Leave of Absence

  •  Sharon Schackmann, a Speech Language Pathologist is requesting a leave during the 2024 – 2025 school  year.

  • Approval to Advertise for an FCA Sponsor for the 2024-2025 School Year.
