Karasyn Martin Signs with Lakeland College Softball Team

Karasyn Martin, daughter of Jerry and Heather Martin, will be attending the Lakeland Community College as a part of the softball team. During her time at NCHS, Karasyn has been an active participant in activities including: track and field, basketball, Science Club, Math Club, BETA Club, Yearbook, and FCA Club.

What made you decide this school was the best fit for you?
Lakeland offers a welcoming and supportive environment, with a coaching staff and teammates who are friendly and encouraging. It’s the place where I believe I can succeed and build lasting friendships.

How do you feel NCHS has prepared you for this next step in life?
NCHS has prepared me not only academically, but also by helping me develop strong time-management skills. Being involved in various extracurricular activities have also built my confidence and leadership skills. I feel that NCHS has prepared me with life skills that will benefit me in college.

What are at least two life lessons you have learned from sports?
One lesson I’ve learned from sports is that failure is part of the process if you want to succeed. Another important lesson I’ve learned is that life isn’t always fair, but learning to adapt and persevere is key.

How have your coaches (and assistant coaches) helped prepare you to play at a collegiate level?
My dad has been my coach for as long as I can remember. He’s always pushed me to be the best version of myself with his constant support and willingness to practice with me. Along with some of my teammates’ dads, they’ve all shown up to help us put in the work so we can succeed, as well as give us the right mindset of an athlete.

What will you miss the most next year about not being at NCHS?
I will miss seeing my friends everyday, whom I’ve grown up with, and I will miss being in various sports throughout the year.
