Newton Falls Short Against CW in High-Scoring Battle

February 18, 2025 – The Newton Eagles fought hard but ultimately fell short against CW in a fast-paced matchup, losing 92-65. Despite a strong offensive performance, Newton was unable to contain CW’s scoring, particularly in the second half.

Newton started strong, putting up 18 points in the first quarter, but CW responded with a 14-point opening period of their own. By halftime, CW had taken control, outscoring Newton 24-16 in the second quarter to lead at the break.

The third quarter proved to be the turning point, as CW exploded for 43 points while limiting Newton to 29. Newton struggled to close the gap in the fourth, with CW securing the win behind steady scoring and strong defensive play.

For Newton, Kody Bergbower led the team with 23 points, hitting six field goals and converting eight free throws. Drew Earnest added 8 points, while Quincy Fulton contributed 8 as well. Despite these efforts, CW’s balanced attack proved too much to overcome.

CW was led by Hayden Parcel, who dominated with 17 points, including three three-pointers. The team’s depth was on display, with multiple players contributing across all four quarters.
