NCHS Varsity Eagles Breeze Past Paris Tigers, 13-1

The NCHS Varsity Eagles delivered a dominant performance on Thursday, securing a convincing 13-1 victory over the Paris Tigers. The game showcased the Eagles’ offensive firepower and solid pitching as they cruised to an easy win.

Early Momentum for the Eagles

The Eagles wasted no time getting on the board, scoring in the bottom of the first inning. Bailee Frichtl ignited the rally with a clutch single that brought home the first run of the game. This early lead was just the beginning, as the Eagles continued to add to their advantage in the following innings.

In the bottom of the second inning, a ground out by Amelia Collins extended the Eagles’ lead to 4-0, further solidifying their control over the game.

Paris Tigers Struggle with Errors

The Eagles capitalized on mistakes by the Paris Tigers in the bottom of the third inning. After a pair of errors, Avery Mulvey singled to the left side of the infield, and more errors by the Tigers led to two more runs crossing the plate. With the score escalating quickly, the Tigers found themselves unable to recover from the costly miscues.

Strong Pitching Performance

NCHS Varsity Eagles pitcher Karly Deckard set the tone early in the game. The right-hander delivered a strong performance, allowing just one hit and one unearned run in three innings of work. Deckard struck out two batters and walked three, demonstrating her ability to control the game and limit damage.

Emma Kraemer, who started for the Paris Tigers, struggled against the Eagles’ offense. She gave up nine hits and 13 runs (seven earned) over four innings, while striking out one and walking five. The Eagles were patient at the plate, accumulating five walks throughout the game.

In relief, Lexie Ghast stepped in and pitched two scoreless innings for NCHS Varsity Eagles. Ghast was dominant, striking out three and allowing no hits, as she kept the Tigers off the scoreboard for the remainder of the game.

Offensive Explosion

The Eagles’ offense was led by Mulvey, the team’s number seven hitter, who went 2-for-2 with two RBIs. Mulvey’s performance was a highlight of the game, as she consistently made solid contact and contributed to the team’s offensive surge. Frichtl also added two hits, including a key single in the first inning that put the Eagles on the scoreboard.

Speed was another major factor in the Eagles’ success. Allie Hermann, Addyson O’Dell, Claire Probst, and Frichtl all contributed with multiple stolen bases, and as a team, the Eagles swiped 12 bases throughout the game. The Eagles’ aggressive baserunning put constant pressure on the Tigers’ defense, adding to their already significant lead.

Paris Tigers’ Struggles

Kayleigh Miller led the Paris Tigers offensively, going 1-for-2 at the plate. However, the Tigers’ efforts fell short as the team struggled both offensively and defensively, unable to generate much offense against the Eagles’ pitching and defense.

Looking Ahead

With the 13-1 win, the NCHS Varsity Eagles continue their impressive season, and they are looking forward to their next challenge. Their next game is set for Friday, where they will take on Freeburg, another tough opponent. The Eagles will aim to build on their recent success and keep their momentum rolling.
