Level Up Your Summer at the Newton Public Library!

The Newton Public Library District is gearing up for an exciting season of adventure, learning, and fun through its Summer Reading Program. With a variety of engaging activities and live performances, the library invites readers of all ages to “Level Up” their summer experiences.

Summer Library Shows will kick off on June 2nd and continue through July 8th at the West End Reception and Events center located at 202 Museum Drive, Newton, IL 62448. Shows are scheduled every Monday at 10:00 a.m., featuring a thrilling lineup including Dinosaur Encounters, Chad Collyer Magician, Rich Redfern, Balloon Music & Fun, Chris Fascione, and Wild Times Exotics. These performances are free and open to the public, making them a wonderful opportunity for families to enjoy live entertainment together.

In addition to shows, the library’s Summer Reading Program is open to all children from birth through those entering 12th grade. Participation is simple and encourages kids to keep reading over the summer break. Children can win prizes by meeting reading goals and logging their progress. Even those who don’t have a library card are welcome to join the fun!

For little ones not yet in school, the library hosts a special program: Story Time. Story Time sessions will continue weekly on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. throughout the summer. Young attendees will enjoy reading stories, singing songs, and creating fun crafts — perfect for developing early literacy skills.

The library is also offering Painting with Tia classes, DIY project days, and special activities like Job Skills programs for teens. Whether your child loves art, science, or hands-on projects, there’s something for everyone.

The Newton Public Library is dedicated to making summer a vibrant and educational time for local families. Come explore, read, create, and level up your library experience this summer!
